Insulation Before & After in Orange County, CA
Photos tell the truth faster than any pitch we could make. Below are real attic insulation, spray foam, and blown-in projects from Orange County homes, each showing what the space looked like when we arrived and what it looked like when we left. You’ll see uneven coverage, old compressed fiberglass, and temperature swings replaced by clean, consistent insulation that holds its R-value. Some of these attics were 30 degrees hotter than the living space. After the work, the temperature difference dropped to single digits. That’s the whole point.

Blown-In Fiberglass Over Uneven Batts in Irvine
Before
After
Before
AfterThe homeowner in Irvine’s Woodbridge area noticed the upstairs bedrooms ran six to eight degrees warmer than downstairs every afternoon. When we got into the attic, we found the original batts had shifted and compressed over the years, leaving the eaves nearly bare. We air-sealed the top plates and blew Owens Corning fiberglass to a consistent R-38 across the full attic floor. The upstairs now holds temperature within two degrees of the downstairs, and the July electric bill dropped noticeably.
Spray Foam on the Attic Rafters in Anaheim Hills
Before
After
This Anaheim Hills home had the air handler and all the ductwork sitting in a vented attic that hit 140 degrees in August. The AC ran constantly and the bedrooms at the end of the duct runs never got comfortable. We applied Demilec closed-cell spray foam directly to the underside of the roof deck, sealing the attic and pulling the ducts inside the home’s thermal boundary. The attic now stays within ten degrees of the living space, and the system cycles off for the first time in years.
Sagging Batts and Rodent Damage in Fullerton

A Fullerton homeowner called because of a smell coming from the attic hatch. We found old fiberglass batts that had absorbed moisture and been used as a nesting site. The entire attic was vacuumed out, sanitized, and air-sealed before we installed Rockwool batts at R-30, which also improved the fire rating of the assembly. The odor is gone, and the homeowner no longer finds rodent activity in the space.
Blown-In Cellulose in a 1920s Craftsman in Santa Ana

Older Orange County homes often have little more than a dusting of insulation, and this Santa Ana craftsman was no exception. The attic floor measured R-5 in spots. We dense-packed GreenFiber cellulose to R-38, working around the original knob-and-tube wiring with proper clearances. The home holds heat in winter and stays cooler in summer, and the homeowner reported the furnace runs about half as often as it did the previous winter.
Attic Cleanout and Reinsulation in Huntington Beach

The marine layer in Huntington Beach keeps attics damp, and this one had insulation matted down to half its original thickness. We removed everything, checked the roof deck for leaks, installed new baffles at the eaves, and blew Johns Manville fiberglass to R-38. The homeowner said the house felt warmer within the first cool evening, and the musty smell that used to drift down from the attic disappeared.
Spray Foam Rim Joist and Band Board in Mission Viejo

This Mission Viejo home had cold floors every winter and a persistent draft in the kitchen. The rim joists, the band of framing where the floor meets the foundation, were completely uninsulated, which is common in Orange County tract homes. We applied Icynene spray foam to the full rim joist perimeter, sealing the air leaks and adding insulation in one pass. The floors are noticeably warmer, and the draft is gone.
